Walnut Spice Mix And Podi Idli :



Walnuts – 1/2 cup

Almonds – 1/4 cup

Cashew – 4 to 5 no

Garlic – 1 medium size

Pepper – 3 to 4 no

Cumin – 1 tablespoon

Fennel seeds – 1/4 tablespoon

Asafoetida – 2 pinch

Red chillies – 4 to 5 no


Recipe :

Heat a wok and dry roast all the above ingredients for 5to 10 minutes in a medium flame. Switch off the flame and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then grind Coarsely in a mixer .This Walnut spice mix can be stored in a air tight container which can be used in frying any kind of vegetables,mix for idli or dosa and even with fish ,chicken or mutton fries .



Coconut flour – 1/4 cup

Egg – 1

Baking powder 1/4 tablespoon

Curd – 1 to 2 tablespoon (optional)

Walnut Spice Mix – 2 to 3 tablespoon

Coconut oil – 1 to 2 tablespoon



In a blender,mix coconut flour,egg, baking powder and salt together and make a thick batter. Add water if required. See to it ,that the consistency should be like idli batter. Add a tablespoon of curd if u need a sour taste otherwise it’s optional . Pour the batter using a spoon on the mini idli pan .Steam cook for 5 to 7 minutes in a medium flame. Let it cool for 5 minutes and remove it with the spoon . Keep it aside.

In a wok ,heat a tablespoon of coconut oil and add the idlies and the Walnut spice mix . Saute well until it turns out to golden brown. Now the podi Idlies are ready to go with coriander chutney or any kind of curries
